My personal SWOT analysis
Strengths:
- exposure to cartoons (for a character design ideal job) through Sophie (my 3 year old daughter)
- I am fully committed to the course
- having the support from my husband ( a games programmer)
- previous experience as business owner helps me to focus when under pressure
Weaknesses:
- no background in drawing/modelling
- having a young daughter, unexpected situations might occur
- not a game player in general ( which means I have to do a lot of extra research when studying)
Opportunities:
- market seems to be going towards indie games
- Marius' (my husband) experience in game programming
- it seems like there are lots of new cartoons coming up, so there is definitely a market for that
- apps are very popular at the moment - I was thinking to do a short animation or a very small game
Threats:
- not a lot of gaming companies in the South-West
- financial pressure if wanting to start an indie company due to family commitments
- app store on Apple is increasing phenomenally and the chance of being picked up is smaller and smaller
