My personal SWOT analysis

Strengths:

  • exposure to cartoons (for a character design ideal job) through Sophie (my 3 year old daughter)
  • I am fully committed to the course
  • having the support from my husband ( a games programmer)
  • previous experience as business owner helps me to focus when under pressure

Weaknesses:

  • no background in drawing/modelling
  • having a young daughter, unexpected situations might occur
  • not a game player in general ( which means I have to do a lot of extra research when studying)

Opportunities:

  • market seems to be going towards indie games
  • Marius' (my husband) experience in game programming
  • it seems like there are lots of new cartoons coming up, so there is definitely a market for that
  • apps are very popular at the moment - I was thinking to do a short animation or a very small game

Threats:

  • not a lot of gaming companies in the South-West
  • financial pressure if wanting to start an indie company due to family commitments
  • app store on Apple is increasing phenomenally and the chance of being picked up is smaller and smaller
